Thief of Hearts

Monday, Summer 16 (April 3)

First thing after breakfast, I craft three paper mache animals, but what do I do with these besides sell them? I wish we could craft toys that our pets could actually enjoy, y’know? Knitting?

Tae: I’m not ready to age up Kali and Zorro up, but carrying them indoors and outdoors is a bother. I have a genius idea to replace the stairs with ramps, but even I can’t use them.. Zorro can’t come outside after I lower the foundation by one tick, either. No foundation for our house until the kitties age up.

Tae: You’ve learned a trick or two since your last try, Sasuke. Let’s see how you do!

(Zorro wants to play, too)

Tae: A perfect run, Sasuke!  Awesome job! I knew you could do it!

Sasuke (to himself): Sure, but why does my gold run make Tae a first-clss pet trainer instead of making me a first-class agility master?

I’m starting to understand why Zorro is masked! He’s stealing my heart!

Chiyo: It’s 5 pm when I finally sit down to resume my second novel, but I keep switching back and forth with the Friend of Animals aspiration, hoping that I can train Mia out of two misbehaviors. Fat chance!

Tae: I need to catch 5 fish by bowfishing, so I start learning Archery. Unfortunately, I get Archer’s Elbow which forces me to stop after reaching level 3.

Tae: Are you Chopstick Savvy yet?
Chiyo: Still working on it, but I do have two pen pals now. Honestly, I'm ready to give up on the Friend of the Animals aspiration, Tae. Mia is winning our War of the Wills!

Tae: You’ve never worked on your Pet Training skill. Maybe leveling that would help? I trained Sasuke out of 3-4 misbehavrious when I wasn’t allowed to switch aspirations. Pet Training probably doesn't matter, but it could help you become companions with Sasuke.

Tae: I’m a thoughtful brother, so instead of leaving for Crystal Valley to look for a Goliath Silk Moth and plumbird evidence, I stick around Jubilee Junction so Chiyo can continue writing. The Jubilee Junction Town Model shows me the location of a plumbird fossil, so I go there to investigate, but it’s the wrong one. Pro tip: Read the goal’s instructions first. Duh.

I do find a Goliath Silk Moth, the last common butterfly in my collection.

Next, I visit the garden on the west side of town to look for a topiary. Not knowing what the topiary looks like, I try clicking on every item in the garden. I finally find one and rehome my extra Dina Yellow Butterfly there.

Tae: It’s a good thing I stuck around town tonight! I get home to see Mia learn not to jump on counters.

Chiyo: Finally! And you agreed that I can work with both Mia and Kali, right?

Tae: Yeah. Once I finish Critter Hunter, I want to become a Friend of the Animals by working with Sasuke and Zorro.

Tae: I leave for Crystal Valley in search of plumbird evidence, with no idea of where to find it. But the CV Town Center shows me the exact location so I simply teleport there. Nice!

Tae: Chiyo, I’m home! Wait, Mia’s in heat again?

Chiyo: How high is your Vet skill, Tae?

Tae: High enough. And by happy coincidence, I just bought the surgery station this afternoon.

Chiyo: That’s great news! I can keep writing while you spay Mia tomorrow morning.

Watcher: Uh, good luck, Tae!

Watcher's Note: Tae has no plan to open a vet clinic. He'd just like to personally look after their pets, without having to take them to a vet clinic. This situation will change once Cebolla opens her own vet clinic.
