Meeting the Family

Sat, Winter 8 (Apr 26)

Alej: It’s been an hour and none of our guests have arrived yet.

Tae: Yes, everyone’s late but I’m sure they’ll all arrive eventually. 

Kiyoshi’s sister Nanami is first to arrive, followed by Mama Brytani and I take a self with her. Then, I start on the party goals to give Alej  time to meet my family.

Alej: *chats with Tae’s mother until they’re friends

Brytani: By the way, thank you for helping Tae out in StrangerVille. 

Alej: Speaking of Tae, I’ve been wanting to ask you for your blessing to marry.

Brytani: You and Tae are getting married? Why hasn’t Tae mentioned it to me?

Alej: Because he doesn’t know. I have a want to Be Engaged to Tae, but I don’t want to propose without asking his family for their blessings first.

Brytani: Of course, you have my blessing, Alej! I can see that you make my son very happy. Welcome to the family!

Tae: Ugh, there’s my Woohoo with Alejandro want again. I know! I’ll go talk to Mr. Ito. That meanie’s usually a bit of a buzzkill.

Tae: While inviting guests tonight, I was excited to see my Grandpa Shoji and Grandma Jiwoo in the list of potential guests so, of course, I invited them. I’d heard of them from Mama and Auntie, so I knew their names, but never met them.

Tonight I learn how Mama and Auntie are step-sisters. Auntie was born to Grandpa Shoji’s first wife, who passed away soon after. Then, Grandpa married Jiwoo Cho, who raised both Auntie and their daughter Brytani.

Alej: Good evening, sir. It’s nice to see you again.

Jun: Hello, Alej. Congratulations on winning Tae’s Bachelor Chalenge. And I heard you two saved StrangerVille, too.

Alej: It was an adventure, for sure! Tae and I were infected and possessed for most of the trip. Look at these photos a conspiracy theorist sent us!

Alej (clears throat): Sir, Tae doesn’t know yet that I’m planning to propose. Would you please give us your blessing to marry? Your answer is yes? That makes me so happy!

Jun: Of course, you have my blessing, Alej. Frankly, I was worried about you at first because you’re Romantic while I’m Family-Oriented, but Tae tells me you express your devotion to him daily. Welcome to the family, son!

Alej: Chiyo’s looking a bit grumpy, probably because she’s been stalking me unsuccessfully for most of the evening. Still, she’s Tae’s sister so I ask for her blessing, too. She gives me the same response as her parents.
Watcher: I’m happy for you, Alej, but the exact same reactions is no fun for me!

Tae: Alej, we have a party crasher!  Let’s welcome them at our foyer.

Alej: Did you watch Tae beat up the burglar, too, Esme? I wanted to be Tae’s hero, but I only have L2 Fitness, so…

Irene the Mixologist: Esme? Did you say Esme?  Hello, little one! Yes, I was in Selvadorada but your Grandpa Tae offered to pay my round-trip airfare to mix drinks at his Family Reunion. How could I pass up the chance to meet you! You’re so cute, baby Esme!

Esme: Äippä! 🥰🥰🥰

Zorro: But what about me? I'm cute, toooo!

Watcher: Go ahead, Alej! Introduce yourself to Tae’s grandma then ask for her blessing.

Alej: But I waited until I was friends with Tae’s parents before asking them for their blessings.

Watcher: No problem, Alej!

Alej: Grandma Jiwoo hates me now.

Watcher: 🤔

(By this time, the party ended with a gold medal and almost all the other guests have gone home.)

Alej: Very funny, Watcher! I’ll just befriend Grandpa Shoji then ask for his blessing.

Oh, he doesn’t offer me an Ask for Blessing to Marry option. Why not? Good thing, though, since Tae's standing right behind me. Oh well, I’ll ask Grandma Jiwoo again after we’re friends. *sighs

Watcher’s Notes:

*Tae’s grandparents: I could’ve cheated the Step-Sister relationship for Brytani Cho and Megumi Ito. Since Tae’s journey began without a biological family, however, I decided to creat his grandparents in CAS instead.
