Who's Mentoring Whom?

Tae: I  barely finished breakfast and you drag me to Newcrest first thing?

Watcher: C’mon, be excited! I spent hours seeking the right museum for your collections, one needing minimal modification.

Tae: Uh, it’s called “Empty Collections Museum”?
Watcher: Yes, you'll fill it up with your own collections. The exhibit areas offer little hints to show which collection goes where. It’s perfect! (Even better, I didn’t have to build it myself.)

Hyped by a quick look around my new museum, I head straight for Willow Creek to look for frogs and metals. I find two frogs I already have but the snow’s falling too hard for me to spot any dig sites.

Juwon invited himself over this morning, so I bring him along as well. Since he’s showing an interest in his violin, I really should craft him one myself. The number of our shared interests and hobbies just keeps growing!

Juwon: Why are we here in Courtyard Lane? It’s so cold and you know it’s boring, right?

Tae: I’m sorry, Juwon. I was hoping to go fishing or at least find other collectibles, but I give up.

Juwon: Finally! I’d like to go home and take a hot bath! Brrrrr!

Back home, I visit that cursed vending machine near my home and get a splash about the Madam Zoe Simmi. Wait, does that mean…..?

Yep, that’s my 12th and last normie Simmi! Since I’ve seen the “collection completed” splash, there’s no need to risk life and limb for my six missing bonus Simmies, am I right?

An hour later, Juwon shows up at my place (again) and, since I have level 8 Flower Arranging, I start mentoring him in that skill. My Nordhaven studio will center on Pottery and Flower Arranging, so I’d like Juwon to have both skills.
But once he completes his first-ever flower arrangement, I can no longer mentor him. Really? Juwon has leveled past me?

In that case, I try asking Juwon to mentor me in Flower Arranging and, whaddya know, I max it! It only took two sim-hours from the time I started mentoring Juwon (Levels 1-10) until I gained my last two levels (Level 9-10). At this speed, mentoring flower arranging will not be a lucrative enterprise. I believe my studio should only offer classes, reserving mentoring for Crew members only.

Tae: It’s been a long day and I’m beat! I’m going to have a little snack, take a bath, then head to bed. You wanna stay over, Juwon?

Juwon: It’s pretty late so, yes, thank you!

  

Juwon: Lately, all Tae’s friends talk about is their upcoming move to Nordhaven, so Tae must be moving there, too. Why hasn’t Tae mentioned it to me? Is he planning to ask me to go with him or leave me behind?
How can I sleep without knowing Tae’s thoughts on how I fit into his life? Is there even a place for me?
